In a Facebook post on Jan. 20, Home Affairs and Law Minister K Shanmugam, who is also the MP for Nee Soon GRC, shared an encounter he had with former People's Action Party MP Tan Cheng Bock.

Brief exchange

Shanmugam said that the two met at Chong Pang hawker centre twice during his walkabout on Jan.19, 2019.

Here's what he wrote in the post:

Was on my usual morning walkabout yesterday, starting at 8.30am at Chong Pang hawker centre and coffee shops.

Dr Tan Cheng Bock dropped in later. I greeted him. Later I came across Dr Tan again, and we took a photo.

I told Dr Tan to come more often . I tell this to a lot people- good for business in Chong Pang.

An hour after Shanmugam's post was shared, Tan also posted about the chance meeting at Chong Pang.

This time with the aforementioned photo.

Making a comeback

Tan recently announced his return to politics with a new party, Progress Singapore Party (PSP), last week.

In the announcement, Tan revealed PSP will be made up of twelve like-minded Singaporeans, including some ex-PAP cadres.

In response to Tan's return, Finance Minister and potential prime minister Heng Swee Keat was the first from PAP's core leadership team to respond.

Heng said at a community event on Jan. 20 that Singaporeans will have to decide who can serve them better.
