A Gold Coast-bound Scoot flight from Singapore was made to return to Changi Airport early Wednesday morning, Jan. 30.

Flight TR6 was carrying 341 passengers.

Turned back to Singapore

It took off at around 10.35pm on Tuesday.

Three hours into the flight, it sustained some damage on the exterior of the front windshield.

Scoot said in a statement the decision to return to Changi Airport was a safety precaution.

No air leak or loss of cabin pressure occurred.

The original plane returned to Changi Airport at around 4.45am, Scoot said.

A replacement plane and a new set of crew was arranged and departed Singapore at 6.56am.

Delay

The TR6 delay caused the return flight TR7 from Gold Coast to Singapore to be rescheduled from 9.20am to 5.20pm on Wednesday.

Arrangements were made for passengers who might miss their connecting flights in Singapore on Scoot or the airline's partners, such as Singapore Airlines, SilkAir and Virgin Australia.

Scoot said in its statement that it is investigating the cause of the damage to the windshield.

"We regret the disruption caused to our customers' travel plans," the airline said.

A tweet showed the extent of the damage to the plane's windshield.

Previously, a Scoot flight from Gold Coast to Singapore on Monday, Jan 21, had to be diverted 20 minutes after takeoff.

This was due to an unruly passenger on board.
