Singaporean actor Aloysius Pang was seriously injured on Saturday while on high-key reservist training in New Zealand.

Pang, 28, a Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) operationally ready armament technician, was participating in Exercise Thunder Warrior, at Waiouru Training Area at the time.

Pang's artiste management agency Noontalk Media confirmed it was him in a Facebook post on Sunday morning:

In case you can't see it:

"We have just received a not too pleasant news this morning. Our NoonTalk Media artiste Aloysius 冯伟衷 who is currently on reservist in New Zealand has met with an accident while participating in an exercise. Aloysius's mum is currently travelling to New Zealand and NoonTalk Media is also in close communication with MINDEF. We will provide updates on Aloysius’ condition when we have more information."

He sustained serious injuries while carrying out repair works on a Singapore Self-Propelled Howitzer, an artillery vehicle.

Pang, who holds Corporal First Class rank, was transferred to the Battalion Casualty Station at 2:25pm Singapore time.

He was assessed and stabilised by the Medical Officer, before being evacuated to Waiouru Camp Medical Centre at 2:50pm where treatment was continued.

At 4:50pm, he was heli-evacuated to Waikato Hospital in Hamilton, New Zealand.

Pang was conscious throughout the evacuation and arrived at the hospital at 6pm where he underwent surgery, which was completed at 11:40pm.

He is now being monitored in the high dependency unit.

In an Instagram post, Pang had earlier mentioned his excitement at going off to serve his country.
