The 22-year-old drew attention earlier today after he showcased his ability to speak flawless Mandarin in an interview, after losing to world number one Chen Long.

Axelsen started to learn Chinese going into 2014 as he was convinced at that time that speaking Mandarin would open new opportunities for him in Asia.

He is one of three Danes in the top 10 men’s singles ranking.
