The 34-year-old husband of a Singaporean woman was allegedly killed during a fight with a tourist in Phuket.

The deceased, Amitpal Singh Bajaj, was travelling with his wife and baby boy when he was killed.

According to The Phuket News, the incident happened on Aug. 21 at a resort in Karon, Phuket.

The husband of Singaporean woman was a British national.

The family were holidaying in Phuket.

What happened?

Fight supposedly occurred over singing

The suspect is identified as 53-year-old Norwegian tourist, Roger Bullman, who was travelling with his wife.

Bullman was staying in a room next to Amitpal and his family.

Police officer Techin Deethongon said the fight occurred between 1am to 2am as a result of Bullman singing on the balcony, CNA reported.

Amitpal allegedly confronted Bullman because the noise was disturbing Amitpal's child.

The two then started "wrangling".

Subsequently, Bullman kicked open the wooden door on the balcony, which separated their rooms.

The two men fought, and Amitpal was reportedly killed in a choke-hold.

However, Deethongon claimed that Bullman did not intend to kill Amitpal: "During interrogation, the Norwegian national claimed he was doing so to stop the other from moving but did not intend to kill him."

Another account alleges Amitpal was armed

However, a somewhat different account of the incident was related by Ekkachai Siri of the Phuket Tourist Police, The Phuket News reported.

In this account, Siri said that Amitpal confronted Bullman at 4am over the noise, and a fight started.

Prior to the incident, Bullman had also allegedly been warned twice by hotel security about the noise he was making.

Siri also claimed that Amitpal was armed, and had stabbed Bullman in the left shoulder with a steak knife.

Bullman then allegedly held Amitpal in a choke-hold.

Siri added that Bullman was purportedly trained in martial arts.

Charged with grievous bodily harm resulting in death

Bullman has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm resulting in death, CNA further reported.

The Phuket News reported that Bullman has since been released on bail by the Phuket provincial court.

However, he must remain in Thailand until the charge has been heard in court.
