In a case that is making its rounds once again on social media, a 22-year-old single mother from Takamatsu, Japan, has been arrested for having sexual relations with a 12-year-old boy.

22-year-old Rika met her victim while they were playing an online game in the vein of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds

(PUBG), basically a multiplayer battle royale.

They started chatting during the game, and eventually struck up a relationship.

The boy eventually ran away to be with her in Fukuoka. While he was staying with her, they allegedly engaged in sexual intercourse.

Rika also posted photos of them on social media.

According to Yahoo Japan, the boy's mother sent worried emails during this time, but Rika coached the boy on how to reply the mother so as to put her at ease.

Regardless, the police were soon tipped off about their illicit affair, and arrested Rika in her apartment.

During the subsequent trial, Rika will most likely be assigned to counselling and treatment at a medical institution in Kansai following the trial, she was also barred from making any contact with the boy, or his family.

According to reports on Setn, Rika had also apparently struck out with a lot of men due to either cheating or abuse.

Reports on the case speculate that since this is the defendant's first offense, she will be determined guilty but let out on probation.

After the trial, it is likely that Rika will seek specialised medical treatment within Kansai.

The trial is expected to resume in September, 2019.
