On Jan. 21 at around 4am, a resident Ng Chek Hock was awoken by a wailing sound coming from under his apartment in Clementi Avenue 2.

He was greeted by this heartbreaking sight.

A puppy, possibly a husky, was tied up under the flat.

Ng found it securely tied to a tree.

Ng wasn't the only one who spotted the helpless pup.

Another Clementi resident, Al Tham, also found the puppy, and waited with it till AVA came and picked it up.

AVA has apparently taken the dog under its care.

"AVA arrived around 5.30. The dog still had some energy left, albeit weak, let out a light bark and try to bit the AVA handler, but gave up after a few tries. Couldn't retaliate. Put into a kennel in the back of the AVA station wagon.

When I last saw it, its limbs were straightened stiff, fur unkempt, and looked dehydrated."
