The lorry driver and cyclist involved in one of the most the viral road accidents of 2018 were charged in court on the morning of Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2019, Lianhe Zaobao reports.
In case you need a refresher:
Driver Zhang Sheng Zhong, 57, and cyclist Eric Cheung, 35, face two charges each.
Zhang faces charges for causing hurt to others through negligent behaviour, as well as not making a report within 24 hours of a car accident.
According to Zaobao, the lawyer representing Zhang has indicated that the lorry driver intends to plead guilty.
Cheung, a British citizen, faces one charge for not cycling to the side of the leftmost lane, hence breaching traffic laws and causing obstruction to faster-moving vehicles.
He was also charged with committing mischief through the act of knocking off the lorry driver's mirror.
Cheung's lawyer has reportedly indicated that the cyclist has not made up his mind whether or not to plead guilty.
Both parties will be arraigned when their case is next mentioned on Jan. 30.
