A second video showed the post-incident altercation by the side of the road.

Lorry driver comments

Speaking to Lianhe Wanbao, the lorry driver said that he had been attempting to overtake the cyclists when he knocked into the cyclist.

He claimed that he heard a sound and thought he might have hit a taxi to his right and he swerved left.

The sound he heard was likely from the cyclist who struck the side of the lorry with his hand or another object.

The lorry driver added that he had no idea that videos of the incident had been taken, or that they had attracted so much attention.

The unnamed lorry driver said: "I had gone out to get a new side mirror installed for $15. When I got home, I mentioned the incident only to my wife. I did not know it would attract such debate."
