She reported the incident to Grab.

We've written about plenty of unpleasant encounters with GrabHitch drivers:

And here's another one to add to the bank of cautionary tales for riders.

Insisted passenger sit in front

On July 28, a Twitter user known as Tan shared her experience with a GrabHitch driver who she described as "f*cking creepy".

For one, the driver was insistent that Tan sat in front for the trip from Zouk to Hougang, even going so far as to refuse to open the back door upon arrival.

It was only after Tan's guy friend spoke to him that the driver allowed her to sit in the back.

Asked passenger to take jacket off

Additionally, the driver sent her a slew of inappropriate messages even before picking her up.

Tan then posted part of their conversation (other parts were deleted by a friend, according to Tan).

It started with the driver asking Tan to remove her denim jacket (possibly something she used as an identifier in the earlier part of the conversation):

He then went on to ask what she drank and if she was high.

Tan, however, was nice enough to entertain his messages, which included him offering to prepare wine for her:

And again, asking her to get rid of her jacket:

From the messages, it looks like Tan managed to get home safe.

Warning issued to driver

Nonetheless, Tan decided to get in touch with Grab to report the incident, who told her to send screenshots of the conversation.

In the same Twitter thread, Tan then wrote that Grab's response was to issue a warning to the driver with her consent.

The private hire transportation platform also advised her to block him and/ or make a police report if she felt any threat to her safety.

Tan, however, was unhappy that such a driver was allowed to continue hitching, as she felt that they were "wolves waiting to prey on vulnerable girls after clubbing".

On July 30, Tan updated the thread in response to another girl, revealing that she has since blocked the driver.
