Cheese-flooded burgers are now a thing available at Jurong West coffee shop

Guess there's no such thing as too much cheese.

From cheese mookata buffets to mac 'n cheese, Singaporeans seem to really love their cheese.

As if we don't have enough variations of cheesy food, a Halal-certified Western food stall in Jurong West called Nadim's Delights has just brought in another contender — the burger banjir.

The stall was opened recently in early November and is located at a coffee shop on Jurong West Street 52 (sorry, Easties).

Wait, what is a burger banjir?

Burger banjir literally translates to "flooded burger" in Malay.

This creation by Nadim's Delights features two breaded chicken patties, a slice of cheese, and nacho cheese (because why not), veggies and mayo sandwiched between two toasted burger buns and indeed, flooded with a generous portion of cheese sauce.

The burger banjir set (S$7.50) is served with a generous side of baked beans and fries:

But hey, if you don't like your burgers flooded in cheese, you can also have it without and singly. Presenting the double patty chicken burger (S$4.50):

With sides like onion rings and cheese sticks, which you can order separately:

But of course, if you were going to make that epic journey to the west, there wouldn't be anything else you'd be gunning for than this:

Where did these soggy burgers come from, anyway?

These cheese-soaked burgers first went viral in Malaysia when Burger Banjir Larkin, an eatery in Johor Bahru, posted this photo set on Nov. 16:

Burger Banjir Larkin's Facebook post, which also features cheese-drenched burgers, garnered over 500 likes and 3,500 shares. These could possibly have inspired Nadim's own rendition of it.

Originated with black pepper-soaked burgers

That said, we found that this flooded burgers trend could well have started in 2015 by EightMiles8, another Malaysian eatery located in Ipoh.

However, instead of cheese sauce, EightMiles8 makes black pepper sauce-drenched burgers.

Maybe Nadim's Delights can consider having a black pepper version for our lactose intolerant friends?
