The man suspected of robbing the Holland Village branch of Standard Chartered (StanChart) Bank last year has been jailed in Bangkok.
But it's for another crime he'd admitted to committing.
Canadian national David James Roach, 28, was sentenced to a total of 14 months imprisonment by Thai authorities for violating currency regulations and money laundering, reported Bangkok Post.
He had been found guilty of bringing in to Thailand more than US$20,000 in cash without the proper customs declaration.
Roach is still a wanted man in Singapore.
In July last year, Roach had allegedly robbed the StanChart bank at Holland Village by slipping a piece of paper demanding money from the bank teller.
He allegedly made off with about S$30,000 in cash.
While fleeing, the suspected bank robber allegedly popped by a café across the street to get himself some tasty strawberry cake and washed it down with a bottle of sparkling water, before carrying on in his escape.
Roach allegedly escaped to Bangkok within the same day of the the StanChart robbery. He was later arrested by Thai police.
Attempts by Singapore to have him extradited failed.
Singapore does not have extradition treaties with Thailand or Canada.
