Singapore is small.
Like real small.
Yet, we believe in east vs west. And Yishun is, well, Yishun.
But we all know Singaporeans are actually a united bunch, ready to help whenever. Like this primary school-going boy who offered to help in an accident.
Or Choon Ming Bao Dian’s Sarah Tan whose social enterprise employed at least 60 underprivileged members of the society.
Sometimes, it’s the little things that make a huge impact. Like how the power of many can help make things a little easier for someone going through a difficult patch.
Or like how this makcik frequently dries the lift landing on her floor so that no bums are hurt whenever it’s raining.
Or this kind soul in Bishan who put a bottle of homemade insect repellant for all neighbours during the height of the Zika virus outbreak in 2016.
Yes, we are the sort of kind souls who will go the distance to return lost wallets.
Really. No distance is too far.
Nor no situation too difficult for our men in green.
Singaporeans even come together to stop traffic for good reason, like helping a visually-handicapped man cross the road.
And part traffic for emergency vehicles.
When uncertain times loom, there are those among us who go the extra mile to put a smile on others’ faces.
For we know, customs and beliefs are to be respected…
In sorrow or joy.
While we may not openly proclaim it, our actions show our concrete community bonds.
And these bonds will help us weather rough times so we can all enjoy the sunny days. Together.
This is Singapore – we are Resilience.
So wherever you are and whoever you may be, remember that when the going gets tough, it’s the people around us who keep us strong.
This sponsored post fuels Mothership’s efforts to find and share more instances of regular Singaporeans doing amazing things for the community.
