The nine Terrexes that left Hong Kong port early morning on the eve of Chinese New Year (Jan 27) arrived back in Singapore today (Jan 30) at 2.40 pm.
Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen had revealed in an earlier interview on Jan 25 that shipping carrier APL would make "special efforts" during the CNY weekend to transport the Terrexes directly from Hong Kong back to Singapore, without any intermediate stops.
He estimated that the shipment will take about a week and expressed hope that they will be back in time for Chap Goh Mei (Hokkien dialect, refers to the 15th night of Chinese New Year or Feb 11 this year.)
Following the early arrival of the Terrexes, they will be transported to a Singapore Armed Forces Camp for post-training administration. According to the Ministry of Defence, the standard post-training administration for all vehicles and equipment include thorough serviceability checks and routine maintenance.
