S'porean parodies social media travel posts with photo of passport & grocery receipt 'air ticket'

Probably feeling FOMO.

'Tis the season to be travelling, and there's no shortage of photos on social media of people who want all their friends and relatives to know that yes, they too, have the annual leave and wherewithal to travel to some far-flung location for a year-end vacation.

These photos typically follow a certain trend.

It usually features a shot of the person's passport, with the flight ticket casually sticking out, just enough for viewers to catch a glimpse of the fancy destination without doxxing oneself.

Captions often follow something along the lines of: "Bye SG! Will see you again in X number of days!"

Case in point.

One Singaporean man though, has joined in on the trend, but in a rather unexpected way.

Everyone's doing it so I'm doing it too

Clearly wanting in on the year-end travel high, one Facebook user Mohamed Ali posted a similar photo of his passport on Dec. 13, 2019.

Starting off with a "Bye SG", Ali then revealed: "Actually I'm not going anywhere. But since everyone posting passport pix, I also post lah."

He also shared that the slip of paper casually slotted into his passport was actually an innocuous receipt from a grocery store.

Wow.

Ali's tongue-in-cheek post has since gone viral, garnering over 2,700 shares and 1,200 likes.

Many clearly found it relatable.

While others seemed to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Hope you get to travel soon, bro.
