Many of you will have fond memories of the McDonald's outlet at Changi Airport's Terminal 2.

The place is a common breakfast and supper spot for travellers and locals alike, even doubling up as a comfortable study spot for Eastie students.

But fans of McD in Changi Airport will have to bid farewell soon as the beloved outlet appears to be closing for good.

Closing on Jan. 31, 2020 at midnight

One netizen, u/dkmag posted to the r/Singapore subreddit a photo of a notice that was apparently put up at the outlet.

The notice stated that despite the past 16 years of service and good food the outlet had served Singaporeans, it will be closing on Jan. 31, 2020 at midnight.

The notice thanked patrons for "all the memories".

It also stated that people looking for fast food could still visit the two other 24-hour McDonald's outlets at Terminal 3 and Terminal 4.

Closing due to T2 renovations

Although the notice did not state the reason for the closure, McDonald's confirmed with Mothership that it was due to upcoming renovations for the airport's Terminal 2.

It was announced in July earlier this year that the terminal would be receiving a new facelift, which includes expansions to the departure hall outfitting it with more check-in counters, automated check-in kiosks and bag-drop machines, reported The Straits Times.

The renovations were reported to have begun in the last quarter of 2019.

Fond memories

Many Reddit users mourned the closure of the McDonald's outlet, with several chiming in and contributing their own fond memories of the place.

Some mentioned how studying there was "part of [their] childhood", while others commented on how it was the dining option of choice before flights.

Another user highlighted the unexpected closure of the outlet, comparing it to that of King Albert Park's, yet another McDonald's outlet treasured by students as a popular study and supper spot.
