S'pore caterer puts mass order of jar cakes on sale after groom cancels wedding

It was supposed to be the wedding door gift.

Planning for weddings can be extremely stressful.

What's equally (if not more) stressful, is when these plans unfortunately get cancelled.

Helping the groom's mother offset cost

For one caterer Hywanie Just Cuppies specialising in baked goods, they recently shared a story about selling jar cakes after a groom's mother had informed them that the wedding was off.

It turned out that these jar cakes were supposed to be wedding door gifts.

Apparently, the mother of the groom had already paid for the large quantity of cakes.

But instead of keeping the payment, however, the caterer said that she was selling off these jar cakes to "lessen (the mother's) burden".

She explained that she could empathise with the emotional turmoil the mother was feeling, and was hoping to lend a helping hand:

"Writing as a mother myself, I could feel how devastated she is at the moment especially when a mother is paying all these."

8 jars for S$30

She said that she is selling the jar cakes for a price of S$30 for 8 jars, with a further discount for quantities above 50.

Two flavours, ondeh and salted caramel, are available.

The exact number of jar cakes she is hoping to sell is unclear, though.

On Oct. 16, she posted an update in the comments session thanking everyone for the "overwhelming response".

And as of Oct. 16, 2:42pm, Hywanie Just Cuppies told Mothership that they have reached the maximum number and are no longer accepting orders.
