GoJek CEO resigns from post to join President Jokowi's cabinet

On October 21, 2019, GoJek's co-founder and CEO, Nadiem Makarim, resigned from the ride-hailing company.

According to Reuters, Makarim told reporters at the presidential palace that he had "received a big honour" to be given the chance to join Widodo's cabinet.

Makarim has said the exact role will be announced later in the week by the President, but Indonesian media have linked him to a post in the new digital economy ministry, or in education.

Although according to CNA, the Indonesian president may delay announcement of the cabinet until Wednesday, October 23.
