HDB flats in Singapore are typically small, but that doesn't mean one can't go big on style.
S$85,000 HDB renovation
On Oct. 9, interior design firm Fatema Design Studio shared one of their works on their Facebook page.
Believe it or not, this beautifully furnished house owned by one Mr Noor is actually a three-room HDB resale flat. The full home renovation cost S$85,000.
Here's a quick look at the living room:
And this was what it looked like before the renovation works:
Moroccan-inspired tiles
Here's a close up of the kitchen, with a marble kitchen island.
And here's the bathroom.
The bathroom has a feature wall with Moroccan-inspired tiles.
Hidden bedroom doors
Now, you may be asking: Where are the rooms?
The rooms are actually well-hidden thanks to the doors that are designed to look just like the ridged walls.
Now you see it...
... Now you don't.
And here's a look inside one of the bedrooms:
HDB recess area turned walkway
The most interesting part of the flat, however, is the walkway into the house.
The walkway, which is also decorated with Moroccan-inspired tiles, was previously a common recess area.
This is what it looked like before:
It is, in fact, possible for a homeowner to purchase the recess area of their house.
According to HDB, the purchase price of a four-square metre recess area outside a typical three-room flat would cost S$6,800.
In total, HDB estimates that the total cost for that recess area amounts to S$7,297.30 after factoring the other fees.
Cool.
