If you can afford to drive in Singapore, you can afford to be more considerate to other road users.

But that is apparently not the case for one Audi driver, according to another driver who was on the receiving end of inconsiderate behaviour.

Blocked four cars

A Facebook post on Dec. 16 has highlighted the extent of the inconvenience one driver in Singapore has caused another driver.

The driver of a white Audi was accused of parking his car perpendicular to four other cars, preventing one of them from exiting the parking lot for some 26 minutes.

Moreover, the Audi driver did not respond or come back to move his car despite repeated sounding of the car horn.

Did not apologise

According to the post, the Audi driver did not apologise for his actions when he did show up.

The Audi driver supposedly also said the driver who wanted to exit the lot should have sounded the horn.

The Audi driver also said he parked in this manner as there was "no available parking lot."

An "arrogant" driver

The post also highlighted how the Audi driver's disappearance for 26 minutes or more was proof of his "disrespectful mentality and inconsiderate behaviors" in placing his convenience at the expense of others.

The Audi driver was also labelled as being an "arrogant" person, who "has gone beyond reasonable limits to cause members of public inconveniences".

It also posited the hypothetical scenario of what might have happened if one of the obstructed drivers was in a "critical and emergency situation".

The post concluded by stating that its purpose was to publicly shame the driver of the white Audi in order to deter him from repeating such an action again.

HDB penalty insufficient

The comments section also criticised the penalty imposed by HDB as insufficient.

Such a penalty would not deter the driver from repeating his actions as the penalty is too low.

According to Rule 13 of the Parking Rules and Penalties under HDB, for "Parking beyond the boundaries of the parking lot thereby causing obstruction", the driver of a motor car will be subjected to a S$50 fine.
