Joanna Dong finished 3rd in Sing! China competition

Joanna Dong, a 35-year-old Singaporean jazz singer, failed to advance to the grand finals of the Sing! China contest.

In the end, she came in third at the Oct. 8 final competition.

In the first round, Dong and her mentor Jay Chou performed a mash-up duet of Chou's Simple Love (简单爱) and classic Carpenters tune, Top Of The World.

Following that, Dong sang a rendition of Fong Fei-Fei's hit Applause (掌声响起) in the second round.
These two rounds placed Dong at third place with 19,220 votes, which meant she cannot proceed to the final two.

The other two contenders, 17-year-old student Guo Qin, who scored 38,256 votes and Tibetan teacher Zha Xi Ping Cuo, who scored 28,646 votes, went on to the penultimate finals.
