Hans Lienesch has done 2,500 or so reviews of instant noodles so far. That's a lot of instant noodles and MSG.

Also known as The Ramen Rater, he has been putting up reviews of instant noodles from around the world since 2010.

Best instant noodles in Singapore in 2017

So, if there ever was an authority on what instant noodles are worth the calories, this is the guy to show you the way.

For 2017, to coincide with Singapore's National Day, Lienesch has put together a Top 10 list.

In his list, he wrote:

I’m posting this on Singapore’s National Day – thought it would be fitting. If you’re not familiar with the half lion half fish image in the picture above, that’s a Merlion. It’s the national symbol of Singapore. Here’s a little more about it here. Well, it’s time. These are my favorite varieties that come from Singapore from the over 2,500 reviews I’ve done to date. All these Singaporean varieties are most definitely shiok – so grab your favorite beer (mine’s Tiger) and check it out!

So, according to him, here are the top 10 instant noodles in Singapore:

#10: KOKA Delight Tomato Flavor Instant Non-Fried Noodles

#9: Nissin Cup Noodles Tom Yam Seafood Flavour

#8: Prima Taste Singapore Fish Soup La Mian

#7: Maggi Extra Spicy Curry Instant Noodles

#6: KOKA Signature Laksa Singapura Instant Noodles

#5: KOKA Creamy Soup With Crushed Noodles Sweet Corn Flavor

#4: Prima Juzz's Mee Creamy Chicken Flavour

#3: Prima Taste Singapore Curry Wholegrain La Mian

Favours spicy flavours

However, from his list, it is evident he favours the "heavier" and spicier flavours -- and he appears stuck in a certain era.

Over the past few years, there has been an explosion of variety of instant noodle flavours, such as black pepper crab and lor mee to cater to local taste --- which do not specifically have the word "Singapore" written on them to indicate that they are local.

So, if this list isn't authoritative enough, treat it as an introduction to curry instant noodles in Singapore.
