MHA rejects Huang Jing's appeal to stay in S'pore, he & wife must leave permanently

And that's final.

On August 5, it was revealed that Professor Huang Jing, a senior fellow at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (LKYSPP) at NUS, is actually an agent for a foreign country.

To recap, the Ministry of Home Affairs said he had shared information with a very senior member of LKYSPP's leadership, and influenced him to share this information with policymakers at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a bid to change their policy toward the country Huang was representing.

His wife knew about it too, and so both of them had their permanent residency status cancelled, and they were both asked to pack up and leave the country for good.

In subsequent reports, Huang, who is China-born but is a U.S. citizen, denied these declarations, decrying them as false, and then appealed the ministry's action.

Rejected

And now, the Ministry has announced it's rejected Huang's appeal, so that's that — he and his wife will have to leave here, within an unspecified "grace period", for good.

Here's their statement:

“Huang Jing and his wife, Yang Xiuping, submitted an appeal to the Minister for Home Affairs on 7 August 2017, regarding the cancellation of their Singapore Permanent Residence status on 4 August 2017.

The Minister for Home Affairs has rejected their appeals under Section 14(6) of the Immigration Act and they were informed of the rejection on 23 August 2017. The Minister’s decision is final.

Huang Jing and his wife will have to leave Singapore within a stipulated grace period. They will be permanently banned from re-entering Singapore.”

Goodbye, Agent Huang.
