GrabHitch driver uses both hands to text while driving in rainy conditions

A GrabHitch driver has been caught on video using both hands to use his phone while driving in the rain.

For at least 22 seconds, the driver is seen with his hands off the steering wheel while texting on his mobile phone. He alternates between looking at the phone's screen and glancing at the road.

According to the post, the rider was travelling from Bukit Batok to Tanjong Katong.

Under the Road Traffic Act, first time offenders caught holding a mobile device while the vehicle is in motion can be fined up to S$1,000 or face imprisonment of up to six months, or both.

Repeat offenders can be fined up to $2,000 and/or jailed up to 12 months.
