In the wee hours of Monday, August 7, the stall caught fire and footage of it ablaze was uploaded to Facebook:

Several voices could be heard shouting in the video. Here' s a partial transcription and translation:

"Ini atas dulu, atas dulu. (The top first, the top.)

Atas dulu, sana. (The top first, over there)

Talipon, talipon. (Telephone, telephone)

Cepat, cepat. (Faster, faster)

Terbakar, terbakar. (Burning, burning)"

Mothership spoke to 26-year-old Iskandar Abu Nazir, son of Mizzy Corner's owner, who confirmed that the fire did happen at his stall, although he was not personally there to witness it.

The fire broke out at about 5am on Monday, he added — that's the reason the other stalls in the vicinity were closed.

He confirmed that none of his staff were injured, though, thankfully, and told us the stall will be closed for the next two days.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force told Mothership they were alerted to the fire at 5:36am. It involved the contents of the stall's kitchen stove, and was put out by members of the public using a dry powder fire extinguisher.

No injuries were reported, the SCDF added.

Just when Singaporeans are more into Nasi Lemak than ever. Sad.
