This year's National Day Rally covered three main topics: Preschool education, Diabetes, and Smart nation.

If you haven't been following the speech closely, we've picked five of the funniest moments from the one hour and fifteen minute speech to help you remember what PM Lee Hsien Loong said.

1) When PM Lee asked young couples to "do [their] part", or all measures for preschool education will be for naught.

Alas, even that may not be enough, because he has forgotten one of the most salient obstacles:

2) Warning: Diabetes causes impotence. The cameras pan to an audience of men laughing awkwardly. 

Statistics say that 25% of Chinese, 50% of Malays, and 60% of Indians over the age of 60 are diabetic. That's a lot of people.

Look out for the golden moment where PM Lee pauses with a knowing look on his face before delivering this joke:

"And for men, if nothing else worries you, diabetes can make you impotent.

And that should cause you to sit up."

3) When PM Lee gave everyone in the audience a free step tracker and told them not to cheat. 

The back and forth hand gesture came out a little... unintended:

But hey, no one went home empty-handed tonight ;)

4) When the phrase "every lamp post is a smart lamp post" struck a chord.

When speaking about building a smart nation, PM Lee gave an example of installing multiple sensors on each lamp, thus making every lamp post a smart lamp post.

Every ___ is a ____. We heard that before.

Unfortunately, we can't install sensors on the citizens.

5) When we learnt that the average Singaporean suffers eight years of ill-health in old age, and everyone starts deducting eight years from the average lifespan. 

The average lifespan of a Singaporean is 82, so if you don't want to suffer from ill health, 74 years old is the time to go.
