The latest question from Singapore's education system to stump us (like this one and this one) is a Primary 1 English question from Maris Stella High Primary School.

In case you can't see it, here's the photo:

With the vaguest of clues from a drawing of a boy sitting down with two other people at a table with what looks like a birthday cake on it, students are expected to rearrange the given letters: O, T, C, N, C, R and E into a word that fits the sentence:

"He is e __ __ __ __ __ __ about his birthday party later."

The first letter ("e") is provided.

On first glance, one would assume the answer to be "excited". However, a closer look reveals that the letters cannot possibly form that word.

Some Facebook users have also commented that there is no fitting word for the group of letters, especially nothing that starts with "e".

We even tried cheating and used an unscrambling tool online, but this was the only result it turned up using all the letters given:

Which doesn't start with an "e", and wouldn't make sense in the context of the sentence anyway.

We have contacted Maris Stella High and will update with their answer.
