Vigilante group SMRT Ltd (Feedback) goes after Mobile 22, another retailer in Sim Lim Square that has received bad press

There is no stopping Singapore's version of Dark Knight it seems.

Singapore's one and only vigilante group, SMRT Ltd (Feedback), has set its sights on Mobile 22, another retailer at the infamous Sim Lim Square that is under public scrutiny after appearing in the press for dubious sales practices.

This is the second retailer that has been targeted. The first is Mobile Air -- which has been shuttered since early November 2014 -- run by the owner Jover Chew, who made international headlines for charging exorbitant prices for mobile phones and causing a Vietnamese tourist to go on his knees to beg for a refund and recording it on video.

Dubbed Singapore's Dark Knight for going after wrongdoers and for maintaining their anonymity, the modus operandi of SMRT Ltd (Feedback) that takes citizen justice to a whole new level is simple: Their call to action is spurred by a need for fairness in the face of perceived injustice that has occurred, reported in the press and riled the masses.

This is followed by the perceived inaction on the part of the authorities to take effective measures to right the wrong and in assisting the victims via some form of compensation, especially for clear cut cases where unethical business practices have occurred.

Taking matters into their own hands, the details of how SMRT Ltd (Feedback) conduct their vigilante work remain murky at this point. But the proceedings can be assembled in a piecemeal fashion via the group's Facebook posts.

Here is a blow-by-blow account of what transpired for this second case:

1. News of errant retail practices reported, perceived injustice is perpetuated leading to outcry from the public:

2. A reconnaissance is carried out:

3. Information found in the public domain about Mobile 22's owner is revealed

4. With a clue describing how this revelation is within the boundaries of Singapore law

5. And making no apologies about it

Therefore, the message from all these vigilantism is clear and simple: Retailers need to think twice about employing shady sales tactics as it might just incur the wrath of everybody.
