Don't call 96550088 unless you have a scoop for The New Paper.

Interwebs, you can stop prank calling Jover Chew now.

Mobile Air owner Chew, who made headlines for scamming a weeping Vietnamese tourist a few days ago, has diverted his calls to The New Paper (TNP) reporter on 5 Nov. His number was publicly revealed by mega troll SMRT (Feedback) Ltd, who urged their fans to call Chew.

Elizabeth Law, the reporter in question, wrote in a TNP commentary today:

"I received 201 phone calls in five hours...satirical group SMRT Ltd (Feedback) posted his personal details on its Facebook page, asking fans to call him. That was how I ended up receiving all their calls when Mr Chew diverted them to my phone. It was awful."

Why did Chew divert his phone number to Law?

Law was the reporter who interviewed Chew when he made headlines for refunding $1,010 to his customer in coins.

Guess Chew was clearly unhappy with how he was being portrayed in TNP.

But Law was just doing her job as a reporter when she asked why Chew decided to pay in coins, a question that Chew evaded.

And get this. It wasn't even TNP who contacted Chew for the story.

According to Law, "Chew had the temerity to call the media to give his side of the story." She added that "Chew didn't seem sorry or embarrassed by what he did. He gave the impression that he had not done anything wrong..."

For those who prank called Chew, I think you owe Law an apology.

We owe a debt to Lianhe Zaobao and TNP for uncovering these unsavory practices at Sim Lim Square in the first place.
