Update, Nov. 8, 2014, 1pm: SMRT Ltd (Feedback) has informed their fans via Facebook that the Indiegogo fundraising campaign has been suspended. No exact reasons were give. However, they have received the funds from that campaign, believed to be about S$4,200. They have started another fundraising campaign.

SMRT Ltd (Feedback), the undisputed mega troll of Singapore, has started a fundraising campaign on crowdfunding site Indiegogo.

The purpose of asking for donations is straightforward, according to the Facebook page that pushes the boundaries: They need the money.

In their own words:

We plan to raise up to USD 10,000 to compensate for our vigilante work for the past 3 years. We will also be using the money to further enhance our intelligence network across Singapore, and Southeast Asia, both for field work and that of the digital network.

And in return, they promise to give contributors nothing, but justice served cold.

And it is not as if it will be difficult for them given their hardcore fan base. Within the first hour of appealing for funds, they easily raised more than S$1,305 (US$1,044).

This is comparable to the S$1,600 raised for the Vietnamese tourist who got scammed by a Sim Lim Square shop owner when he wanted to purchase an iPhone 6.

SMRT Ltd (Feedback) has played the vigilante role in this saga so far, by using unorthodox methods to expose the personal details of the Sim Lim Square shop owner. This has proven to be a popular move with the public-at-large, who want to see justice done as they are tired of unethical business practices and the toothless manner in which authorities deal with errant retailers.

The Facebook page has also pledged to take on other retailers in Sim Lim Square that make use of shady practices. One of their potential targets is Mobile 22.

Time will tell as to how much SMRT Ltd (Feedback) can raise. But if they keep up with what they are doing and manage to stay online, they have a good chance of meeting their S$12,500 crowdfunding target.
