This is sign that Singaporeans are no longer taking things lying down.

A maid who was almost the latest victim to fall prey to another Sim Lim Square shop's rogue sales tactics had her money refunded, The Straits Times reported.

She paid $450 for a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 from Mobile 22 on Nov. 2, 2014.

She then signed a receipt for a warranty that cost her an extra $957.60.

Shocked and scared, she was told by the salesman in the shop to ask from her friends for the money. She left without the phone even though she paid $450.

Five days later, the maid, who has worked in Singapore for 12 years, was accompanied back to Sim Lim Square by her employer on Nov. 7 -- not before the employer called The Straits Times to alert them.

One of the four sales people in Mobile 22 refunded the money to the maid in less than five minutes after they realised they were being monitored by the media.

Mobile 22 is the shop with the second most number of complaints lodged against it with the Consumers Association of Singapore. The first is Mobile Air, where police reports have been lodged against it for its unfair sales tactics.

Citizen vigilantes' Facebook page, SMRT Ltd (Feedback) has claimed credit for this incident. They wrote: "The business dealings there is slowly changing."

They have previously indicated that they will be targeting Mobile 22 next, which was one of their reasons for raising money from the public through crowdfunding to fight unfair practices:
