National Council on Problem Gambling determined to let anti-gambling ad run its course until July 23

Troubled boy "Andy" will still be furrowing his brows and telling you about his father who bet all of his savings on Germany until July 23, 2014.

An unnamed National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) spokeswoman has defended the oracle-of-an-advertisement-campaign they are running and is adamant that it would not be removed.

She was quoted in Today as saying:

"We are not pulling ... the advertisement. I do not see why we should."

She stressed that it was a timely reminder to punters not to get carried away and let their gambling affect their loved ones, as reported in The Straits Times on July 10, 2014.

She added:

"Selecting Germany injected a sense of realism in our messaging, since no one will bet on a potentially losing team."

This statement is funny because Germany beat slaughtered annihilated decimated completely and utterly destroyed Brazil 7-1 just a day before.

The NCPG commercial was created by local advertising agency Goodfellas. It started airing on July 5 and is scheduled to run till July 23.

As part of a campaign, it is being screened on television and in cinemas along with print ads and posters at bus stops and coffee shops.

In fact, the ad was screen thrice on television during the half-time period of last night's World Cup semi-final match.

Andy, hang in there. You're going to be a millionaire.
