Changi Airport Terminal 4 is ready to greet the world.

An AirAsia flight from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore will reportedly be the first to land at the newly-built terminal on Friday, June 23, 2017.

It will then later take off from there as part of ongoing trials.

T4 officially opens later this year.

The trials will also involve Cathay Pacific, Cebu Pacific, Korean Air, Spring Airlines and Vietnam Airlines.

From the moment passengers check in, self-service, automated and human-less technology will be used throughout T4.

The only airport staff that passengers will encounter will be during security screenings.

T4 will deploy facial recognition technology at various stations to ensure it is the same person going through the different processes.

Facial recognition technology has about 80 to 90 percent success rate.

Thousands of volunteers have so far tested the systems in T4 over the past few months, with teething problems still expected to occur.
