According Shin Min Daily News, the Singapore police paid the Toa Payoh Lorong 8 hawker centre a visit and spoke to the hawkers there.
This was after a video showing an old man shoved from behind at the food centre received widespread condemnation from the public.
According to the Chinese newspaper, a reporter went to the hawker centre on Sunday.
From the reporter's understanding, one plain clothes police officer was there speaking with the hawkers. The newspaper report said it was understood that many Singaporeans were unhappy watching the video that made its rounds online and police reports were made.
It was reported that the police were there to understand more about what happened.
SMDN understands, according to reporter's observation, the police were at the scene for around half an hour.
Madam Lim, 52, a popiah stall holder, who spoke to the police, said she told them what she saw during the incident on Friday, April 21, at about 8:45pm.
According to another eyewitness, Mdm Lin, a salesperson, who was there when the incident occurred, said she saw a purple umbrella placed on the table by the woman seen in the video. The elderly man arrived and wanted to occupy a seat at the table the woman was at, as he probably did not see the umbrella there.
The woman then asked the elderly man to leave.
But she then asked him not to leave and even scolded vulgarities at him.
And when her male companion arrived, he rammed the elderly man from behind.
In response to Mothership.sg queries, the police confirms police reports have been made and are looking into the matter:
