Update: Royal Malaysian Police said the recruitment ad is a hoax.

Just when you thought the world could not get any weirder, the Royal Malaysia police force has put up a recruitment ad using the image of Singaporean actor Elvin Ng decked out in Singapore Police Force outfit.

The recruitment ad was put up on Facebook on Jan. 16, 2017.

The maximum salary cap is advertised as RM 2649, or S$850.

Ng's turn as a police officer was in the hit Mediacorp police drama series C.L.I.F. 3, which aired in April 2014.

Here's the interesting part: In C.L.I.F 3, Ng, who is currently 36, played the role of a lazy cop.

The comment section of the Facebook post has since become a hotbed of funniness.

Besides earnest queries about the job scope and application procedure, others have highlighted the irony and strangeness of the ad:
