Colin Schooling, the father of Singapore's first Olympic Champion Joseph Schooling, was unable to travel to Rio to watch his son compete in the Olympics.
Hence, Schooling made what could well be his first phone call to his dad after the men's 100m Butterfly Olympic gold medal ceremony.
This moment was nicely captured by Tan Chuan-Jin, Minister for Social and Family Development and the President of the Singapore National Olympic Council.
Yes, it was sweet for Tan, who was in Rio to support the Team Singapore contingent and was able to capture the historic moment.
This also meant that Tan had to miss out on Singapore's 51st birthday celebrations last week. He apologised to Singaporeans for his absence.
But we bet it was all worth it.
Courtesy of the Singapore Swimming Association, we also have a lovely reaction from Schooling's dad Colin (third from the right):
"I am incredibly proud of Joseph, and I know his supporters are too. This is why he got into swimming, to be the best. There were challenges along the way, but he overcame them and continues to become better at what he does. I’m really proud of my son. He’s a competitor and we can look forward to even greater things to come. We’d like to thank members of the swimming fraternity, his past and current coaches, support team, fellow athletes and supporters, your support has made all the difference and helped him get to where he is now."
