Another cat has been found dead in Boon Lay.

The discovery of the carcass was made on March 30 near the letterbox of Block 191 Boon Lay Drive.

The police said a report has been made.

The location is merely 350m away from the HDB block of flats where another community cat was seen being thrown off from the 22nd storey in December 2022.

In this latest case, blood was seen smeared on the wall, letterbox, and floor near the cat, The Straits Times reported, citing the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals’ executive director Aarthi Sankar.

A photo of what appeared to be blood on the ground and walls was put up online.

An appeal for eyewitnesses was made on Facebook by Siau Li Chao, a Cat Welfare Society’s (CWS) senior community engagement manager.

Cat not from the area

According to ST, the cat might not have been a community cat, citing CWS president Thenuga Vijakumar.

The cat could have been a pet, or brought to the area where it was found dead.

Both the CWS president and SPCA executive director said they believed the authorities are investigating this case.

The Animal and Veterinary Service (AVS) confirmed it is investigating the latest incident, according to ST.

However, the two cases might not be linked, AVS group director Jessica Kwok added.

Background

Previously, a well-loved community cat, Panther, was found at Block 186 Boon Lay Avenue on Dec. 14, 2022 afternoon.

The case sparked widespread public fury as it appeared to have been a blatant abuse case.

First-time offenders convicted of abusing an animal can be jailed up to 18 months, fined up to S$15,000, or both.
