Rosmah Mansor, the wife of jailed former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, has had her passport temporarily released by the Court of Appeal so that she can travel to Singapore, Bernama reported.

Will be in Singapore between Mar. 23 and May 5

Rosmah intends to come to Singapore to visit her daughter and her grandson who is reportedly unwell, according to Malaysian media.

The 71-year-old will also be celebrating Hari Raya with her family here.

According to The Star, Rosmah will be in Singapore between Mar. 23, which is the first day of Ramadan, and May 5.

Her travel document must be returned to the court on May 10. 

The decision to temporarily release Rosmah's passport was unanimously granted on Mar. 21 by a three-member bench comprising Justices Kamaludin Said, Hadhariah Syed Ismail and Azman Abdullah.

The prosecution did not object to Rosmah's application.

Rosmah’s lawyer Jagjit Singh said that her passport will be returned to the court within a week upon her return from Singapore, reported The Star.

Appealing against her corruption charges

Rosmah had her passport impounded in 2019 due to corruption charges.

On Sep. 1, 2022, she was convicted of three corruption charges.

She was found guilty of soliciting RM187.5 million (S$56.1 million) from Jepak Holdings, as well as accepting two bribes amounting to RM6.5 Million (S$1.9 million).

Rosmah was given a sentence of 10 years in jail and a fine of RM970 million (S$290.5 million).

However, she appealed against her conviction and was granted a stay of execution pending her appeal in the Court of Appeal.

She is currently out on bail.
