Singaporean Mandopop star JJ Lin has issued two legal statements on Weibo through a law firm to hit back at those who have spread rumours about him.

The first legal statement was published on Aug. 1 evening after former K-pop star Kris Wu was detained by the police after being suspected of rape. The statement was shared to Weibo by  JFJ Productions, Lin's agency.

Wu has been accused of "deceiving young women multiple times into having sexual relations".

One of the allegations was made by his 19-year-old ex-girlfriend who took the matter to Weibo on Jul. 8.

Following Wu's arrest, some Chinese netizens claimed that Wu mentioned Wilber Pan and JJ Lin were among other celebrities who are involved in Wu's deeds.

However, some netizens continued spreading "fabricated and malicious" claims that are defamatory in nature, the law firm said.

That led to the issuance of second legal statement on Weibo through Shanghai JiuZe Law Firm on Aug. 2.

The statement refuted online allegations of Lin's involvement in any illegal acts.

Both statements listed close to 30 Chinese social media accounts which were found to be spreading these claims.

The law firm stated that they have been authorised by Lin to collate evidence and will take immediate legal action to seek apology and compensation from users who do not stop spreading these claims.

The statements also demanded that users delete these posts immediately.
