Lai liao.

As GE2020 approaches, you might find yourself a bit flustered as to what in the world is going on.

Here's a rough guide to GE2020, this one's about which constituencies different political parties will most likely be contesting.

We will update the article as plans firm up in the coming days.

How many seats?

PAP (People's Action Party)

They will probably be contesting all the seats (93). They are rather prominent players.

Opposition

The Workers' Party will focus on "consolidating" their position in the east according to The Straits Times, they are also looking to contest 6 constituencies and 21 seats.

Which is half the number of constituencies and 8 fewer seats than what they contested in GE2015.

Aljunied, East Coast, Marine Parade, Sengkang GRC, Hougang SMC and Punggol West SMC.

Here are some of their presumed candidates for the upcoming election. It is of course not an exhaustive list.

Progress Singapore Party has signalled their intention to challenge eight constituencies, they unveiled twelve candidates earlier and announced some of the constituencies that they might be taking part in.

West Coast GRC, Choa Chu Kang GRC, Hong Kah North SMC, Tanjong Pagar GRC, Pioneer SMC, and three newly carved out SMCs – Marymount, Yio Chu Kang and Kebun Bahru.

However, PSP has since ceded Yio Chu Kang SMC to RP, so that they can have a straight fight with PAP in West Coast GRC. 18 seats

Singapore Democratic Party has long maintained that they will target the same five constituencies that they did in 2015.

Holland-Bukit Timah GRC, Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC, Bukit Batok SMC, Bukit Panjang SMC and Yuhua SMC.

If the five constituencies are to be challenged again, that will be 11 seats.

Singapore People's Party will look to contest 5 seats, Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC and Potong Pasir SMC.

Desmond Lim of Singapore Democratic Alliance tells Mothership that they will only be challenging Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC.

Possible seat count: 5 seats

The Reform Party (RP) had initially made it known that they intend to contest West Coast GRC, which they challenged back in 2015. However after long talks with Tan Cheng Bock, they have decided to not contest the area.

They intend to contest Radin Mas SMC, Ang Mo Kio GRC, and Yio Chu Kang SMC.

Possible seat count: 7 seats

Red Dot United does not intend to compete in any constituency that will result in a three-cornered fight. They had initially chosen Jurong GRC as the constituency of choice.

They recently announced their third party member for the potential GRC team.

On the same day, People's Voice Party announced plans to send a party to Jurong GRC as well.

In addition to Jurong, Lim Tean replied in the comments of the post that the party would also stand in Pioneer and Mountbatten single member constituencies, and Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC.

A recent post stated that Peoples Voice has decided to contest Punggol West SMC in the coming elections, as well as Pasir-Ris Punggol GRC.

A recent post by Lim on June 25 showed the final list of constituencies PVP will be contesting.
12 seats.

According to a CNA article in April, the Democratic Progress Party (DPP) will run in Marymount SMC, Kebun Baru SMC, and Bishan-Toa Payoh GRC.

However the caveat behind this particular plan, DPP was in the midst of trying to set up a coalition when the interview was given.

The other parties involved in these talks were Singaporeans First Party (SingFirst), People's Power Party (PPP) and RP.

The plan to join SDA however fell through.

The four parties however did tell Today that they were linking up informally instead. This presumably means this would avoid three-cornered fights within the four parties.

Goh Meng Seng's PPP might be challenging two SMCs according to their Facebook page.

Although in a further development, they have decided to step back from Radin Mas to ensure no three-cornered fights.
The National Solidarity Party told Today that they will drop plans to contest Pioneer SMC, but will contest Tampines and Sembawang GRC as planned.
