The Russian former wife of Sultan Muhammad V of Kelantan was forced to pawn her S$342,000 wedding ring after she became pregnant and was abandoned by her husband, according to The Daily Mail in an interview with her.
Rihana Oksana Voevodina, 27, said that she had to sell the precious Jacob Arabo ring for one-third its value, because she was strapped for cash for medical bills near the end of her pregnancy.
This latest revelation is a follow-up to her previous Daily Mail interview.
Sources claim that the former king did not pay for child support
The Daily Mail reported that Voevodina sold the ring, which matches one worn by Victoria Beckham, just before she gave birth to her son.
The money was used to pay for her Swiss hospital costs for two months.
"I used this money to cover my medical bills in Switzerland as I was at risk of losing the baby," she said.
Sources close to Voevodina also told Russian publication Komsomolskaya Pravda that Muhammad V "did not pay a dime" towards the cost of Rihana's son, whom she gave birth to on May. 21, 2019.
Her pregnancy towards the end was described as "difficult".
This comes as the former king previously publicly cast doubt on whether he is the father of her son.
His lawyer had stated that "there is no objective evidence as yet as to the biological father of the child".
Voevodina has since insisted that her son belongs to Muhammad V, and has offered to take a DNA test to prove that the child belongs to her ex-husband.
Currently lives in a rented apartment in Moscow
The Russian woman and Muhammad V are now embroiled in a bitter war of words, as the Kelantan palace previously accused the Russian beauty queen of extravagant requests.
She was described as a "gold-digger", seeking an £8 million (S$13.6 million) home in London, £1.2 million (S$2 million) Moscow apartment and a £24,000-a-month allowance (S$40,660) to cover the costs of raising her child.
Rihana is currently living in a rented apartment in Moscow while supporting her son on her own.
Although she drives an expensive car, The Daily Mail reported that the car was a wedding gift from the sultan.
It was also reported that the ex-king has not bought any housing for her and her son.
Divorce due to wedding photos leaking online
Aides of the Kelantan Sultan claim that a key reason for the breakup was the leaking of pictures during the couples wedding party in November 2018 to the Russian media.
Muhammad V was reportedly unhappy that the photos of their lavish wedding reception, which was meant to be kept private, had leaked online.
However, wedding guest Madomedsultan Aliyev allegedly apolgised to both the sultan and Voevodina for posting the wedding celebrations online, suggesting that the Russian bride was not behind the leak.
Prior to these revelations, Voevodina posted on social media that she was going to reveal more about what happened and that it will be "painful".
