On September 2, 2019, Jeannette Chong-Aruldoss handed in her resignation from Singapore People's Party (SPP).

In her Facebook post, Chong-Aruldoss highlighted her belief in the need for more opposition MPs in Parliament.

"My convictions have not changed. If anything, I feel more strongly than ever that we must have more non-PAP MPs in Parliament. The fight for more political balance remains urgent and imperative."

If you think she has left politics for good, fret not.

A little over a month later, Chong-Aruldoss appears to be very much still involved in politics.

On October 11, 12.05am, Workers' Party member Yee Jenn Jong uploaded a Facebook post showing Chong-Aruldoss joining some WP volunteers to go around Eunos Crescent.

Here is former non-constituency member of parliament's Facebook post.

Daughter of Marine Parade?

Here is Chong-Aruldoss, a "long-time resident of the Joo Chiat ward of the Marine Parade GRC" and WP member and former non-constituency member of parliament Gerald Giam talking to some Eunos residents.

As a long-time resident of Joo Chiat ward, Chong-Aruldoss and Yee have much to talk about.

Yee previously contested in Joo Chiat SMC in General Election 2011.

He lost marginally with 48.99% of the votes.

This was before the Electoral Boundaries Review Committee recommended the redrawing of electoral boundaries that saw Marine Parade GRC absorb Joo Chiat SMC and spitting out MacPherson SMC.

Yee was the leader of WP Marine Parade GRC team in GE 2015, and it will be intriguing to have a former leader of the National Solidarity Party in his new team.

Chong-Aruldoss entered politics in 2009 eventually joining the Reform Party as a member of their CEC, but she, along with eight other RP members left the party due to "differences of opinion".

Chong-Aruldoss then went on to join NSP where she stood for her first election at Mountbatten SMC in 2011, and once more in 2015 as a SPP candidate.

She lost both times to PAP candidate Lim Biow Chuan.

Chong-Aruldoss told Mothership she was there as a volunteer, and was doing her bit as a citizen and resident.

"I joined yesterday's walkabout as a volunteer. I live in the area where yesterday's walkabout was held. I joined yesterday's walkabout because I want to do my bit as a citizen and as a resident."
