The man wearing a green GrabFood t-shirt caught on video stealing a towel outside an HDB flat is not a GrabFood deliveryman, a Grab spokesperson said.

A spokesperson from the ride-hailing company, which also offers a food delivery service, said: “The person wearing a GrabFood shirt in the said video is not a GrabFood delivery partner. We are working closely with the authorities on this matter."

What video showed

A one-minute video uploaded to Facebook on Tuesday night, July 2, by Muhd Ismail, showed a man wearing a green t-shirt with the words “GrabFood” walking the corridor of an HDB flat.

The man stopped beside a laundry rack along the corridor before looking around suspiciously and lifting a towel.

He then walked back to the lift landing before going off-camera.

Grab said earlier via its spokesperson that it will take action: “Grab does not condone such behaviour and will ban delivery-partners who are found guilty.”

Previous theft case

A week ago, a 27-year-old GrabFood deliveryman was arrested for allegedly stealing a pair of shoes from outside a customer’s home.

A Grab spokesperson said previously the the deliveryman’s account was suspended and it was working with the authorities.

A person who is convicted of theft faces up to three years’ jail, a fine, or both.
