From September 3, 2019, Singapore Airlines (SIA) will be launching a non-stop flight to Seattle in the US State of Washington.

According to the airlines' press release, an Airbus A350-900 aircraft will be used for the route.

It is fitted with 42 Business Class, 24 Premium Economy Class, and 187 Economy Class seats.

Four times a week

The flight will be operated on a thrice-weekly basis before increasing to four times per week in October 2019.

Subject to regulatory approvals, SQ28 will depart from Singapore at 9.25am every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, and arrive in Seattle at 9.05am on the same day (all times local).

From October 2019, Sunday flights will be added to the schedule.

This journey will take around 16 hours.

Accordingly, the return flight from Seattle will operate as SQ27 and will depart Seattle at 10.40am, to arrive in Singapore the following day at 5.30pm.

Sale of tickets is expected to be progressively available, starting from November 7, 2018.

Fifth US city that SIA flies to

The flight to Seattle comes fifth to Singapore's existing routes to four other US cities: Houston, Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco.

The route to Los Angeles will commence on November 2, 2018, with the Airbus A350-900ULR (ultra-long-range) aircraft.

SIA will operate a total of 57 flights to the US once the Seattle flights are introduced next year.

What's in Seattle?

Seattle is home to the headquarters of a large number of major US corporations, including Amazon and Microsoft.

It is also a popular tourist destination known affectionately as the “Emerald City”, famous for its forests and parks, vibrant arts and cultural scene, in addition to being the gateway for cruises to Alaska, SIA writes.

Seattle is also known for its mark in the music scene.

It is the hometown of rock guitarist Jimi Hendrix, where he was born and buried, with a park inaugurated in his name.

It is also where the band Nirvana and their frontman, Kurt Cobain, first became famous.

No reason to get excited.
