After news broke that Corporal First Class (CFC) Liu Kai, a full-time national serviceman (NSF), died in a vehicular accident during training, photos of the accident scene started spreading on social media.

Photos shared over 2,000 times on Facebook

One Facebook page, SG Road Vigilante, published the photos, claiming that "no one should be deprived of this information":

In one photo, a Bionix vehicle can clearly be seen on top of the Land Rover.

According to the Ministry of Defence (Mindef), the Bionix vehicle had reversed into the Land Rover during training.

Liu, who was inside the Land Rover at that time, lost consciousness. He passed away soon after.

In another photo, several Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) personnel can be seen standing around the incident site.

As of writing time, SG Road Vigilante's Facebook post had over 2,000 shares.

SCDF NSFs took unauthorised photos of scene

According to the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), a police report has been made against five of its NSFs for taking and circulating photos of the incident.

SCDF said two of its personnel responded to the incident at Jalan Murai Training Area on Nov. 3 and took unauthorised photos of the scene.

They then sent the photos to their fellow NSFs via WhatsApp. The other three NSFs forwarded the images to their friends.

After which, one of the photos ended up on social media.

In response to queries by Channel NewsAsia, Mindef said:

"All personnel provided access to SAF training grounds are subject to the restrictions placed on unauthorised photography or videography... Offenders will be prosecuted to ensure that these strict rules to guard our security are not compromised."
