Be prepared to say goodbye to the Tiger Sky Tower in Sentosa soon.
Closing after 25 years of operation
The tourist attraction is set to close later this year on Dec. 28.
It's been almost 15 years since the rotating observation tower first opened on Feb. 7, 2004.
It stands 131 metres above sea level.
And for the gigantic tiger at the bottom of the platform.
Operations suspended for 3 months in 2017
The Sky Tower suspended operations for a period of three months on Aug. 2017 following an incident which left 39 people trapped in a cabin for more than four hours at about 25 metres above ground.
However, this incident isn’t the reason for the closure of the Sky Tower.
In an interview with Channel NewsAsia, Sky Tower director Alexander Melchers shared the following:
“The discussions with Sentosa Development Corporation were very sincere and detailed, but we could not agree on the commercial terms to continue operations."
However, this probably won’t be the end of the Sky Tower.
The operator is planning to move and rebuild the Sky Tower in another country.
Reduced ticket prices
As a gesture of appreciation, the Sky Tower will reduce the ticket prices from Nov. 1 onwards.
The tickets will now cost S$8.80 for adults and S$4.80 for children, instead of the usual S$18 and S$10 respectively.
