Marina Barrage is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year.

And it will host its biggest-ever carnival over the last weekend of October 2018.

So far, nine events have already taken place since February this year.

The 10th event will see a full list of festivities carried out from Friday to Sunday, Oct. 26 to 28, 2018.

Free half-hour cruise

One major highlight is the free half-hour boat cruise on Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 27 and 28.

It will operate from 3pm to 9pm on both days.

After departing from Marina Barrage, the ride will take visitors to Gardens by the Bay, before heading towards Marina Bay, where the Floating Platform is located.

It will then proceed back to Marina Barrage.

The rides are on a first-come-first-served basis. No registration is required.

Up to 3,600 visitors will get to enjoy the cruises, where passengers can learn about the history of Marina Barrage.

Movie screenings

There will also be movie screenings on Friday and Saturday nights.

Marvel blockbuster Black Panther will be shown on Friday between 10.15pm and midnight.

Disney-Pixar animated flick Coco will screen on Saturday, between 9.15pm and 12am.

A key highlight will be a fireworks display from 8pm to 8.15pm on Saturday.

Other activities

More than 15,000 people are expected to attend the three-day celebration.

Besides these activities, there will also be 100 food and craft vendors.

These include street food stalls, lifestyle booths, art and craft booths and upcycling booths.

Carnival games, inflatable bouncers and food trucks will also be available.

10th year anniversary

Marina Reservoir is Singapore’s 15th reservoir and the first reservoir in the city.

It was officially opened by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Oct. 31, 2008.

The Marina Barrage has hosted more than 16 million visitors the past 10 years.
