Pedestrian in S'pore allegedly jaywalked, shouted at by driver for not knowing rules & called a foreigner

The exchange took on a nationalistic turn.

A pedestrian who allegedly jaywalked, was shouted at by a female driver, recorded on video shouting back, shouted at by another pedestrian, and later stand accused of being a foreigner who does not know the rules in Singapore.

The alleged jaywalker had apparently tried to cross the road while the pedestrian light was red.

In a video uploaded by All Singapore Stuff on Monday, Oct. 15, a pedestrian who verbally accosted the alleged jaywalker could also be seen stepping in to help defend the female driver.

The video has gone viral, garnering over 75,000 views in the span of an hour.

Angry exchange

The video started off with the alleged jaywalker and a woman shouting at each other at a road junction.

The man could be seen crossing the road before returning to stand in front of the car the woman driver was driving as he was being rebuked.

Halfway through the video, a second pedestrian came in to help the woman, as the exchange became more expletives-filled.

Cars could be seen turning into the road the pedestrians were on. Bus service 61 could be seen plying the road.

Here is a rough transcript of what was said, which was in both Singaporean English and Mandarin:

Woman #1: Punch me lah.

Man #1: (Unintelligible)

Woman #1: Siao (crazy) ah. Punch me (x2).

Man #1: You honked at me?

Woman #1: You dare to hit me? This is Singapore, not China leh.

Man #1: I'll call the police. You honk me.

Woman #1: Then I knock you (with my car) lor.

Man #1: Ok you knock me (with your car) lor.

Man #2: F******, green light. Here can go meh? You Singaporean ah?

Woman #1: (To man#1) Talk to him lor.

Man #1: (Unintelligible)

Woman #1: Siao (crazy) ah.

Man #2: You know the road a not? (x2)

Man #1: What? You want to kill me ah?

Woman #1: Bro (x2). Thanks (x2).

Man #2: K******. Green light there, you want to cross.

Woman #1: Ya lah!

Man #1: You're scolding me right?

Man #2: You Singaporean ah?

Man #1: So what?

Man #2: You Singaporean? T*****, c******. Go lah!

Woman #1: Go away lah!

Man #2: F*** you, go!

Woman #1: Bro ah. Never mind (x2). This one crazy one ah this one.

Man #2: T*****, c******.

Woman #1: This road is in Singapore, not China.

Man #1: N****. This is Singapore lah, not China lah. Mother. C******.

Woman #1: You want to go? If not, I call the police leh.

Man #1: Call the police then.

Woman #2: Go home lah.

Man #1: Call police. Whatever.

Facebook user Suria Pragasan, who claimed to be the man who stepped in to help the driver, left a comment on the video explaining the situation then:
