The suspended net playground ball pit in City Square Mall at Farrer Park will get a safety review, the operator AirZone said.
This was after a parent claimed she had the fright of her life after she got submerged by a lot of balls in the pit and felt like drowning.
Safety review
Airzone, the organisation behind the ball pit, has since come up with a response to the feedback.
They will be conducting a safety review, and they will "take all our patrons' recommendations into consideration before coming to a decision to reduce the number of balls in the pit or not".
They also emphasised that it is impossible to "drown" in the pit, as the balls are all 7cm in diameter.
Additionally, that size of balls means it's impossible for them to fill your nose or mouth, causing anyone to choke on them.
Nevertheless, AirZone said adult supervision is necessary as kids should not be left alone in the pit to play with the balls.
The incident
A video uploaded on Feb. 3 showed a parent shouting for help with her hands flailing in the air, desperately trying to make an opening for her to climb back out.
It was posted by a husband and wife duo, John and Vivien Low, who are behind a parenting site, Beautiful Chaos.
The parent in the pit said she is 172cm tall but had trouble getting onto her feet in the suspended net as there were too many balls around her.
However, they clarified that the overall experience was actually not that terrifying and the public response appears to be overreacting as their kids had a ball of a time.
They even joked that it was a way to experience "drowning" in a safe manner.
