Foodies — or Intagrammers (what's the difference these days, really), rejoice — an establishment selling omurice promising a flowing lava centre has reached our shores.

Located at Suntec City, the prices at OMU seem seem reasonable enough — they start at S$9.80 for a Tomato Sauce Omelette and go up to $14.80 for a Demiglace Sauce Omurice with Burger (pork/beef).

There are four main elements to an omurice dish served here:

1) Rice

Depending on the sauce you choose, you will get either tomato fried rice with sautéed chicken and mushroom or butter fried rice.

2) Sauce

There are variations of five main sauces, matched with different ingredients: tomato, demiglace, curry, cream and Japanese-style (served on the side).

We also spotted mentaiko cream (below, S$13,80) and red miso sauce on the menu, although these were only served with one type of dish each.

There are even mixed sauces and doria-styled (creamy, Italian inspired) omurice available:

This Doria Omurice with Hayashi Sauce (above), for instance, goes for $14.80.

3) Main ingredient

That would be items like shrimp & squid, chicken cutlet, cream croquette, and even grilled salmon to go with your omurice.

If one serving is not enough for you, you can add on more, with prices starting from $1.50 for corn going up to $5 for meat or seafood.

4) Omu/Egg

Important: You'll have to pay an extra $2 for a lava-style omelette.

Otherwise, we're guessing, it's not gonna spill its guts like your TMI friend.

It's at this juncture that we should clarify: OMU is a restaurant of Thai origin, not Japanese. Additionally, reviews have not all been positive — some thought the rice a little too bland and the sauce not flavourful enough.

You can snoop around Instagram for more reviews:

While most of the combinations seem to be pre-fixed, there is always the option of ordering a plain portion (e.g. Tomato sauce omurice, which doesn't come with ingredients) then adding the ingredient you want.

For more options, the restaurant also sells pasta and salads that hover around the same price range. You can check out their full menu here.
